WHY STUDY UG IN GERMANY?

You'll be able to tap into an esteemed tradition of academic excellence, and universities here are renowned for their high standards. Coming from abroad, you'll find that the low tuition fees are a welcome reprieve and that the strong connections to industry provide you with real-world hands-on experience. At public universities, state funding is generous, allowing international students to enjoy a high-quality education with virtually no financial strain.

Undergraduate programs in Germany have a focus on theoretical frameworks, innovative research, and hands-on problem-solving, and lots of them, especially in the STEM fields, throw in labs, links to the real world, and down-to-earth, practical assignments. You'll encounter a different system from the Common App in the US when sending your application to German universities. In Germany, a centralised evaluation process, known as uni-assist, is in place, which assesses the academic equivalence, authenticity of documents, and the eligibility of international students. It does this before sending the applications to the universities themselves. Coming out of university, you'll find that Germany is one of the strongest economies in Europe, and is home to the headquarters of companies that are world leaders in the automotive, engineering, renewable energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors, and all this adds to the job prospects of graduates.

Applications to UG programs in Germany can be made through the country’s centralised evaluation platform, uni-assist, or directly to the university, depending on the institution. Coming from English-speaking countries, you'll be glad to know that lots of undergraduate programs are taught in English, especially in the fields of business and technology.

STEPS TO APPLY FOR UG IN GERMANY

Follow these steps to successfully apply for UG in Germany programs abroad.

COUNSELLING SESSION

The initial step is to take a thorough look at the applicant's academic background, the subject they're interested in, their language proficiency, and long-term career goals when planning to study in Germany. German universities have high standards, and Dream Ladder assesses whether the student's Class 12 qualification is equivalent to the German Abitur. They're also determining if a Studienkolleg, a one-year preparatory course, is necessary.

PROFILE BUILDING

Academics are at the forefront, and core subjects are given more weight than extracurricular activities when building a profile in Germany. Dream Ladder advises students to shore up their academic performance, consider taking preparatory courses if necessary, and calibrate their profiles to the requirements of the courses they're aiming for.

UNIVERSITY AND COURSE SELECTION

QS rankings, the language of the course (German or English), entry requirements, location, and job prospects after graduation are all taken into account when narrowing down a university list. Dream Ladder's team uses official university course catalogs and databases to compile a well-rounded list.

TEST PREPARATION

German Universities require you to be proficient in German, and can ask for the results of the TestDaF or DSH exams. However, some English-speaking undergraduate programs accept IELTS or TOEFL scores. Dream Ladder will help you prepare for these tests in a manner that coincides with the admissions process.

In-house Tutor Support

Students can effectively meet deadlines with the aid of progress tracking, mock exams, and individualized language preparation.

APPLICATION

The process is managed by uni-assist or the university's own portal when applying for an undergraduate program in Germany. Coming hotfooting over from the UK, you'll need to submit your application through one of these systems.

OFFER LETTER AND ACCEPTANCE

Dream Ladder helps with condition checks, offer acceptance, and enrollment confirmations after offers are received.

DOCUMENTATION AND FINANCIAL PLANNING

Students are assisted in obtaining the necessary financial documentation, education loans, and blocked account opening as proof of funds.
